Women’s Club

The St. Francis Xavier Women’s Club motto “Serving Christ Through Good Works-and having fun doing it” – says what we are about. The Club is a great place to make a difference, meet women in our parish and forge lasting friendships. Our members are loving, kind people who are willing to share their time and talent with all of St. Francis Xavier parishioners. Our three fundraisers per year – two Bunco parties a year and our hugely successful Christmas bazaar – are used to help fund a number of activities benefiting primarily children and family ministries. Every woman in the parish is invited to join the Women’s Club.

Assistance provided may include utilities, food, or other material needs. Clients may call 502-538-0674 leaving a message available 24/7. Outreach members work on a rotating weekly basis by telephone, which allow members to work around their schedules. We provide donations to other SFX ministries such as Garden Ministries, HSYG, and Stewards of Appalachia. We also support Resource Counselors for funds needed for elementary schools. We provide meals for Room at the Inn several times a month, helping support individuals who are rebuilding their lives from homelessness. Also, we have a food pantry located on Stringer Lane, beside the old church on the SFX campus, receiving donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, etc. The premise is “Take what you need. Give what you can.” If you are interested in joining this ministry, call Connie French.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

Chairpersons: Mary Lee

“Covering those in need of Prayer”

The Saint Francis Xavier Prayer Blanket Ministry is made up of volunteers who make prayer blankets they sew, crochet, knit, and quilt etc. The prayer blanket is a symbol of a faith sharing community covering of prayer for the individual who receives it. The volunteers pray over the blankets as they are being made. The blankets which include a prayer booklet and a rosary are then brought to the parish office to be blessed by Father. They are stored either in the back of the church (black bin) and also in the basement of the parish office and can be distributed as needed. They are free, but any donations received will be used to purchase material and supplies. A journal is available with the blankets to enter the name of the recipient. The recipients are remembered in Prayers by the Ministry and in the Prayers of the Faithful at Mass every quarter.

The Ministry is open to anyone interested in making prayer blankets and praying for the recipients. If you are interested in being involved in the making of blankets for this Ministry, please send an e-mail to sfxprayerblanketministry@gmail.com or Join up on the Parish APP if you already have an established account.

Subs for contact captains are needed occasionally. Also needed are individuals willing to pray for others as a prayer tree partner.
